Diploma of Project Management
This qualification is designed to give you the practical skills to manage a project from beginning to end. If you are taking on your first formal Project Manager role; or looking to step up into a Project Manager role; this is a good qualification for you.
Hands-on practical learning
In this course you will learn by doing. You will be introduced to a simulated project called the ‘Generative AI Procurement Advancement Initiative’ (GAIPAI). You will lead the project from commencement all the way through to completion. Simple, easy to understand instructions will guide you every step of the way.
No exams
There are no exams in this course. Instead, you will use the information provided to you to develop documents; just like you would in an actual project.
Targeted support at every stage
A team of skilled project management professionals are available to give coaching and feedback as you progress through the course. Assignment submissions aren’t just about grading – they are about giving you valuable feedback that you can apply to keep improving your skills.
You will also have access to ‘Project Manager Insights’ – a series of interviews with existing project managers about their experience; where they share tips for new project managers.
The skills you need for any industry
During this course you will build a collection of relevant skills and knowledge:
- Project planning: Create a Project Plan, schedule, financial forecast and risk register.
- Governance: Establish a Steering Group with a formal Terms of Reference. Practice writing formal communication like Agendas, slide packs and Minutes.
- Recruitment: Prepare role descriptions, review CVs, and conduct interviews.
- Leadership: Set KPIs, implement a performance plan, work to improve your team culture.
- Stakeholder management: Write a Stakeholder Management Plan, influence senior stakeholders.
- Quality management: Write a Quality Management Plan, address the findings of an audit, and address poor quality outputs with a team member.
- Procurement: Develop a Procurement Management Plan, prepare an Approach to Market, finalise a contract, evaluate supplier responses.
- Contract management: Analyse submitted schedule and forecasts, address issues, undertake commercial negotiations, and write formal change requests.
- Problem solving: Manage conflict, lead through major changes, capture lessons learnt.
- Complete a project: Complete a commercial relationship, close out financial records, support change management.
